Delhi work is defined by one constraint more than any other: the building is usually already full of people. Very little of what we do here is a clear site with open ceilings and no occupants. It is commercial complexes in Nehru Place, Connaught Place and the district centres; hospitals and clinics that cannot close a ward; hotels with guests in residence; retail and showrooms that lose money the moment the shutters come down.
Retrofitting fire protection into a working building is a different discipline from installing it in a new one. Routes for hydrant risers and sprinkler mains have to be found through structure that was never planned for them. Detection has to be added under existing false ceilings without stripping a whole floor. Tie-ins to a live alarm panel or a charged hydrant line need isolation windows agreed in advance, with a documented interim arrangement so the building is never left genuinely unprotected. We plan all of that before mobilisation, not while standing on site with the ladder already up.
The building stock is also old and mixed. A single Delhi commercial complex can carry three generations of fire equipment — an original conventional panel, a partially completed sprinkler retrofit and an extinguisher set bought by whoever occupied the floor last. Our first job is nearly always a survey that separates what still performs from what only looks installed, so the quotation covers real work rather than wholesale replacement.

Hotels and hospitality — guest-room detection and sounder coverage installed with minimal disturbance to finishes, kitchen hood suppression, back-of-house hydrant and extinguisher provision, and staff training so night-shift teams know exactly what the panel is telling them.
Retail and showrooms — sprinkler layout adjusted around display fit-outs and mezzanines, detection that copes with high ceilings and open shopfronts, and extinguisher schedules and drills for staff who may be the only people on the floor when something starts.

For Delhi retrofits we plan around traffic and building access rather than pretending they do not exist. Material deliveries into congested commercial districts are scheduled for early morning windows, noisy or disruptive work is booked into evenings and weekends where the occupier needs it, and crews are briefed to work within the building's own access and security procedures. It is unglamorous planning, but it is the difference between a retrofit that finishes and one that stalls.
