Ghaziabad has one of the oldest industrial bases in the region, and it shows in the fire protection we are asked to look at. Sahibabad, Site IV, Meerut Road and the Loni belt are full of units where the hydrant line went in decades ago and has been extended, patched and partially abandoned since. A large share of our Ghaziabad work starts with tracing what is actually connected to what — because the drawing on the wall and the pipework in the yard rarely agree.
Pump rooms are the recurring problem. A hydrant system is only as good as its pump set, and a main pump that has not been trial run in two years, a jockey that cycles constantly because the line is leaking, or a suction arrangement that cannot deliver the required flow are all common findings. We measure pressure and flow rather than accepting a nameplate, then quote for the specific defects.
Alongside the industrial estates, Ghaziabad carries a large stock of residential societies in Indirapuram, Vaishali, Vasundhara and Raj Nagar Extension, plus commercial buildings along the NH-9 corridor and a genuine concentration of cold storage. Cold storage is its own problem — refrigerated spaces need detection that works at low temperature and a suppression approach that accounts for insulated panel construction, which is not something a generic warehouse specification handles.
